Environmental Bodies

This e-portfolio is meant to be an exploration into the relationship between perceptions of the body and how those perceptions affect our interactions with the environment. The meat of my website, so to speak, is the accumulation of critical abstracts for papers exploring associations between the body in some form or another to the environment. I have subdivided this broad topic into smaller focus areas- including gender/sexuality, perceptions of the human body as something other than entirely human, the relationship between the amount of space available and the body, applicable theories and disciplines, and my specialty area topic which is the relationship between the body, medicine, and how we perceive and in turn attempt to prevent or delay death and dying. Twenty of these abstracts are from readings provided in my Anthropology 450 class at North Carolina State University, but the five detailed under Healing and the Concept of Dying were pulled on my own from AnthroSource.
